Why not bring your children without a car seat in the car

Despite the fact that traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among children up to fourteen years old, many parents still do not use child restraint seats to ensure the safety of their children in the car or car. Three out of every four child deaths that occur could be prevented if children were securely attached to the chair.

'But if from here to there nothing will happen'So say some parents trying to justify their decision to take the child loose in the car. It does not matter if the journey is short, children must be properly tied to the restraint seat, which must be in accordance with their weight and size, when they go by car or car. I do not believe that there is a bad intention of parents to expose their children to this danger, but there is the bad and harmful belief that in their car and under their driving, there will never be an accident.

We all need to know that if a child is not properly secured in the car, a simple braking can cause serious injuries. And that even if the child is in someone's arms, it will not be sufficiently protected in the car. So on vacation, on a trip, when taking the child to school, or even on a short section or at low speed, children should always be seated in approved restraint chairs.

By car, many things can happen, even if they go at low speed. A quick turn or sudden braking can put your child's safety at risk. Unfortunately accidents happen and not only to others. Don't forget thataccidents never warn! Habit is very important. How to get into the habit of child safety when they are in the car or car?

1. That from a very young age, when they are babies, they see that you tie them to a chair, before taking them for a walk. Babies must feel that this is a habit of their parents from a young age. They get used to it.

2. When your baby starts to walk, continue to put him in his car seat when driving. That they always go with their harnesses well fastened.

3. When the baby can get in and out of the car alone, explain that before closing the door, you should put him in his seat, well tied, to prevent something bad from happening to him.

The habit that parents assume with their children in the car, will make the children learn and assimilate it in a positive way. So when they reach 150 cm in height, and no longer need to use the restraint, they will put on the seat belt themselves. But the example starts with their parents. The installation of safety devices and their correct use will make children a habit of safety.

Safety devices for children must be used with criteria and some care. It is useless to have an approved and adequate seat in weight, height and age of the child, if it is not properly anchored to the car, or if the harness or safety belt that retains it is not properly tied or tightened. There should be no slack that allows the child to leave the mechanism alone. Nor do you have to be too tight to the point of not letting the child have movement.

Another bad habit of parents, especially in the winter time, is to carry children with their coat on in the restraint chair. Children should not drive with a coat. The tests carried out by experts in simulating an accident with dolls sitting with their coat on, indicated that the possibility that the child could be thrown from the car, in sudden braking, increases by up to 80 percent. The coat acts as a 'fictional barrier' between the child and the seat belt. The air conditioning of the car is sufficient.
