The sun rises. Script of a children's play about emotions


Short plays like the one we propose here are ideal to have a good time with the family or even to do at school and perform in front of the rest of the courses. And if they are also representations with which a value is taught to children, success will be guaranteed. On this occasion, we want to propose the script of a children's play to work on emotions with children. It is titled 'The sun rises'. You'll love it!

This play is designed to do with elementary school boys and girls or to do at home as a family. It is intended to make children known the six basic emotions(joy, sadness, fear, anger, disgust and surprise) and also teach them to manage them and to know how to express them in the best possible way. The applause at the end of the play is mandatory!

Many times the smallest of the house feel emotions such as anger at not getting what they want at that moment or the joy at seeing that they have to eat their favorite dish and they do not know well how to communicate or manage it. That is why parents and teachers must use the available resources and teach by example so that, little by little, boys and girls can learn about and internalize the emotions that are part of their day-to-day life.

Work description: this play takes place in the park, on any given day when the sun shines, children play and birds sing. There are six friends who will work with the six basic emotions in everyday situations. Will it be joy to know that the race is about to begin? Or disgust knowing that what there is for snack does not like everyone? Let's see it!

Characters: Alba, Sara, Raquel, Nicolás, Alberto and Pablo in the role of leading children. An adult, Sergio, who will be in charge of working with emotions at the end of the day. The more children want to join in this fun play, the better, the script can always be adapted.

Place of action in which the play is developed to work on emotions: the park.

Necessary material for the staging: a ball, normal toys that you have at home or at school to use as props, a small ladybug also as a toy and you really want to have fun.

To represent all the acts of this short play to work the emotions, the toys and the ball that we have prepared before are needed.

The curtain rises. A group of children is seen playing in the park on a sunny afternoon.

Sunrise: What a wonderfull day! I am very happy that the sun has risen and that we were all able to come together to play in the park on such a beautiful day as today.

Nicholas: You're right, plus we have a ton of things to play with. (Takes the ball in his hands) Do you want us to go play a soccer game?

Sunrise: Well, I don't feel like anything, I prefer that we do a race than see who reaches the finish line before, do you think?

All in one: Voucher! Let's have a race to see who gets to the finish line first.

(All the children run at the same time and, when Raquel is about to arrive, Alba overtakes her)

Sunrise: How good! I have won the race, I am the fastest of all. (He says with a smiling face)

Raquel: (He speaks with an angry face) Nothing of that, you cheated, I was going to get there first but you got right in front of me and you didn't let me advance.

Sunrise: (with a slightly serious face) I think that is not the case, I have reached the goal first and I have not cheated.

Alberto: (She stands next to her friends) It's okay girls, you don't need to get angry, we can do the race again. Although very heavy, I am already hungry (he puts his hand to his belly). Do you know what to eat?

Raquel: You're right, it's not worth getting upset. Well, you have to eat tuna sandwiches and fruit juices.

Nicholas: Gross! (He makes a face of not wanting to eat anything). I don't like tuna at all, and even less fruit juices. Today I am not going to have a snack.

Alberto: But then later you will be very hungry and very little energy to keep playing.

Nicholas: I don't care, I prefer that to eating something I don't like.

All the friends go to the table to have a snack. They leave the scene. The curtain closes.

The curtain rises. The children are seen again in the park talking and playing.

Paul: (makes a surprised face) Look guys! I have seen a ladybug. My mother told me the other day that if you put it on the palm of your hand, it runs everywhere and then it flies off.

Nicholas: What fun!

Sara: (who is next to Pablo and also sees the ladybug) Let her go, all insects scare me very much.

Paul: Why? It is very small and does nothing.

Sara: But what if it stings? I better go. (After saying this, he walks away and starts playing with the ball again).

Right at this moment, Sergio, the adult who acts as teacher or father, intervenes.

Sergio: Guys, it's time to pack up our stuff and go home, it's getting late and we still have a long way to go.

Tears to one: We want to stay a little longer!

Sergio: I know you are having a good time but it is time to go back, another day we organize it and we come again to the park to spend the afternoon, do you think?

Everyone: Yes! Another day we come again.

They start to collect things except Alberto, who is thoughtful and with a sad face.

Sunrise: What's wrong Alberto? Won't you help us pick up?

Alberto: (He continues with a sad face) I don't want to leave the park yet. I haven't even had time to play my favorite game. (He runs away because he is sad and does not want to talk to anyone).

The curtain closes.

They all follow the park. The curtain opens and you can see Sergio and friends heading towards Alberto.

Sergio: Alberto, it is normal that you are sad to have to leave the park when you still want to be longer. That is a normal emotion, you do not have to be ashamed to share it with others.

Alberto: Emotion? What is an emotion?

Sergio: Emotions are normal feelings that we all experience throughout the day, as just happened to you right now. You have noticed sadness about not being able to play in the park anymore. It is good that you share it with others and that you try to see it from a positive point of view.

Alberto: (who is still a little sad). And how do you do that of seeing it from a positive point of view?

Sergio: Very simple, think that another day we are going to return to the park all together and that you will be able to play your favorite game. And also think that it is time to go home, rest and have a delicious dinner.

Raquel: What nonsense! That stuff about emotions is worthless. Alberto has gotten angry because he is a little boy.

Sergio: Don't talk like that, Raquel. Emotions are things that we all feel, children and adults, on a daily basis. You yourself have noticed a basic emotion a while ago.

Raquel: Oh yeah? Which one?

Sergio: Well, anger at thinking that Alba had won the race by cheating and that you had lost for the same reason.

Raquel: (makes a shocked face) It's true, I hadn't realized it. (He goes to Alberto). I'm sorry, Alberto, I shouldn't have talked to you like that.

Alberto: It's okay, I guess we're all a little tired.

Sergio: (continues with his explanation of emotions) If you think about it, there were many emotions today. Alba has been very happy to come to the park, Pablo has been very surprised to see the ladybug and Sara has noticed fear when she has seen her too and Nicolás has felt disgust when he knows the snack he had prepared for today.

Everyone: It is true!

Sergio: Do you understand it better now? Emotions are part of our daily lives and are much easier to understand if we respect them and share them with others.

They all leave the scene. The curtain closes. End of the play 'The sun comes out' to know the emotions.

Do you know why the sun always comes out in the park? Well, because it is the perfect place to have a fun time with friends!
